Attacking poor Fortuna loses in Zwolle
Fortuna lost the away match against PEC Zwolle 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.
A few changes in Fortuna's squad. Mitchell Dijks was fit enough to start in the starting lineup, for Iñigo Córdoba and Tijjani Noslin the match against Zwolle came too soon. Their places in the forwards were taken by Marko Lazetic and Iman Griffith. The match also came too soon for Oguzhan Özyakup.
Already after four minutes Fortuna could have taken the lead. Lazetic served Kaj Sierhuis with a nice foot movement, the striker could only go at goalkeeper Jasper Schendelaar. From about 16 meters, the Fortuna striker saw his effort come back into the field via the post. Fortuna allowed Zwolle the ball, the home club struggled to create any real chances. A shot from distance by Younes Namli, the most outstanding player on the home side, was Zwolle's only chance.
A header by Tolios Vellios landed in the hands of Ivor Pandur. After half an hour of play Griffith, through a good combination with Sierhuis, got into good position to finish. However, the outfielder forgot to shoot, passing the ball wide of the goal, where no Fortuna player could be found. Three minutes before halftime the team from Zwolle took the lead, Davy van de Berg shot the ball beautifully on a pass from Zico Buurmeester: 1-0. A goal that actually came out of the blue, but forced Fortuna to take more risks in the second half.
Milan Robberechts came on for Lazetic after halftime. Fortuna failed to really get in front of Schendelaar's goal. Because Zwolle's offensive performance was also poor, there was little to enjoy for the spectators. It was exciting, however. After more than an hour two new players, Ragnar Oratmangoen and Mouhamed Belkheir, came on to give the team more impetus.
In the closing stages, Remy Vita and Arianit Ferati also made their appearances. Dimitrios Siovas was sent forward with the intention of forcing something through the air. Schendelaar was only really tested once, a shot by Ferati landing on his fists. In the last minute of official playing time, the final decision fell in Zwolle's favor, with substitute Odysseus Velanas heading in from close range: 2-0.
Line-up: Pandur, Pinto, Siovas, Guth, Dijcks (73’ Vita), Duarte, Rosier (81’ Ferati), Halilovic, Griffith (63’Belkheir), Sierhuis (63’ Oratmangoen), Lazetic (46’ Robberechts)
