2022 Tessa Wullaert

Tessa Wullaert is joining Fortuna Vrouwen. The 29-year-old striker has signed a contract for two seasons. The Belgian is acquired from Anderlecht, the new champion in the Belgian Super League.

The brand new recruit about her transfer: "The move to the Netherlands feels to me like a new challenge, a new league. Fortuna's ambitious plan appealed to me enormously, which made me decide to choose Sittard. I am convinced that with my experience I can contribute to this great project and put women's soccer on the map in Limburg. The club and partner Azerion are making a strong case for women's rights, which ties in well with my own project GRLPWR."

Bo Breukers, responsible for compiling the selection, is also elated. "That we can add a player of her caliber to the selection is an important step in realizing our ambitions. We want to leave a good impression in the first year and her international experience plays an important role in that. With Tessa's arrival, we are also showing the outside world that we are on a nice trajectory."

The Tielt native made her debut for Zulte Waregem and successively played for Anderlecht, Standard Liege, Wolfsburg and Manchester City. In the summer of 2020, Wullaert returned to Anderlecht, where she can produce impressive numbers. The scoring prowess is also evident with the national team. In over a hundred international games, the captain of Belgium was good for 65 goals. This makes her the Red Flames' top scorer.

Wullaert's record is impressive. The player became champion of Belgium and Germany and won the cup in both countries. Both English cup tournaments were also added to the trophy cabinet. She also picked up several personal awards, including the Golden Shoe of Belgium three times. Late last month she became champion of Belgium with RSC Anderlecht, most recently she was named Player of the Year.
