Fortuna reaches the next round in the Dutch cup

Buijs had a few changes in store. Luuk Koopmans took Mattijs Branderhorst's place under the Sittard crossbar. Syb van Ottele, Kristoffer Peterson and Alessio da Cruz also kicked off. Alen Halilovic was not yet present, Samuel Bastien took his place on the bench again.

The match got off to a slow start. Fortuna was the dominant party from the start, but had difficulty converting it into opportunities. Ezequiel Bullaude came close for the first time after half an hour of playing. However, the Argentinian's shot was blocked. Da Cruz also had two chances, but the attacker's sights were not yet focused. As a result, the glasses position remained on the scoreboard until the tea break.

After the break, Sportpark Zuid quickly became enthusiastic. Tim Waterink took full advantage of goalkeeper Koopmans' fumbling and surprisingly gave the home team the lead. It held for about ten minutes. The equalizer ultimately came from De Treffer goalkeeper Niels Kornelis. A high ball was hit completely wrong by the goalie and therefore disappeared into his own goal.

A minute later, Da Cruz's visor was properly adjusted. A perfect cross from Josip Mitrovic was shot behind the Gelderland goalkeeper by the flying Da Cruz. Fortuna then remained the dominant party, but was left unscathed with fifteen minutes left on the clock when De Treffers hit the post.

The game was closed after eighty minutes. Bullaude put his head against a headed ball from Van Ottele. The Feyenoord loanee scored his third (header) goal in Sittard's service. In the final phase, Bullaude was again accurate with a penalty kick. Fortuna is therefore certain of the next round and the team will be included in the draw on Friday.
