Fortuna recalls Verrips from loan period

In the winter of 2022, Fortuna acquired the goalkeeper from English club Sheffield United, after which Verrips competed with Van Osch. After half a season, the goalkeeper went on loan to FC Groningen. A deal that was extended last summer. Now the 27-year-old striker returns early to Sittard.

Technical manager Americo Branco is pleased with the goalkeeper's return. "Verrips is a hugely talented goalkeeper with a lot of Eredivisie experience. We are therefore happy that he is returning to Fortuna. We have a lot of confidence in his qualities and are sure that this will allow him to compete with the other goalkeepers within our selection."

Goalkeeper Verrips is eager to compete at Fortuna. "It feels good to be back in Sittard, I am looking forward to rejoining the group and going for my chance to become Fortuna's first goalkeeper."

Verrips went through the youth academy of FC Twente, Vitesse and PSV, then transferred to Sparta Rotterdam and made his debut in professional soccer for 'De Kasteelclub'. The goalkeeper was subsequently under contract to MVV Maastricht, KV Mechelen and FC Emmen.
