Fortuna loses friendly against Standard Liege
Fortuna played a closed-door friendly against Standard Liege on Saturday afternoon. The match was lost 0-1.
The Sittard formation had no surprises. Head coach Danny Buijs chose the same eleven names as in the first half against FC Eindhoven. Öguzhan Özyakup and the recently returned Ivor Pandur were not yet in the squad. So was Mica Peters, who was forced to sit out due to injury.
The match got off to a difficult start. After fifteen minutes of play the first chance fell to Fortuna. Paul Gladon tried his luck on the turn, but could not direct the ball sufficiently. After that, Standard Liege took over the initiative. Luuk Koopmans tapped and ball out of the cross and was helped by the aluminum a few minutes later.
In the second half, the Belgians went in search of the opening goal. This finally came after an hour of play. Aron Dønnum put Standard Liege ahead by putting the ball behind Koopmans from a free kick. The guests looked for a second goal, but the chances were few and far between.
Line-up: Koopmans, Pinto (75' Guth), Guth (62' Nieling), Siovas (62' Sayadi), Vita, Duarte (62' Schenkhuizen), Ferati (80' Tasci), Tasci (62' Robberechts), Noslin (72' Elshan), Gladon (72' Belkheir) en Córdoba (62' Umaro).
