Fortuna with good feeling into international break
Fortuna won Friday night's home match against Heracles Almelo with generous figures. With 4-1 the third home victory of this season was a fact, at halftime it was already 4-0.
Iñigo Córdoba was fit enough again to start, Milan Robberechts made his first appearance in the starting line-up this season. In the early stages, the guests, with former Fortunean Emil Hansson in the starting eleven, had most of the ball possession. However, the Fortuna defense did not give away any chances. The first dangerous situation on the home club's side, after six minutes, immediately produced a goal. A short corner kick by Ivo Pinto was put in front of the goal by Alen Halilovic, the birthday boy Rodrigo Guth headed in hard: 1-0.
After several weeks in which scoring was difficult for Fortuna, the spell was broken. After 25 minutes, Fortuna doubled its lead. Dimitrios Siovas had a good defensive interception in midfield, through him the ball ended up with Kaj Sierhuis. With a subtle foot movement the Belgian winger left Heracles goalkeeper Michael Brouwer defenseless: 2-0.
Fortuna got up to full steam, seven minutes later the third goal of the evening was a fact. On a pass from Córdoba, Deroy Duarte was able to strike, but Brouwer parried the ball with a good reflex. In the rebound, Alen Halilovic shot the ball impeccably: 3-0. Even before halftime Fortuna had a fourth goal in store for the more than 10,000 people in the stadium. Sierhuis hit the ball with a fine header from another Córdoba player: 4-0. That was also the highest score ever in the Eredivisie with which Fortuna could rest.
The match on the soaking wet pitch was obviously over. In the second half, Fortuna had several chances to increase the score, but Ivo Pinto and Sierhuis, among others, found their way to Brouwer. Just before time, Mario Engels was able to do something back for the guests, scoring 4-1 from close range. However, the party that the players celebrated with the Fortuna supporters after the game was no less.
