Fortuna lost the home match against high-flyer FC Twente. After a 0-0 halftime score, Václav Cerny and Manfred Ugalde took care of the 0-3 final score in favor of the Tukkers.

The Sittard formation faced a number of setbacks in the run-up to the match. On medical grounds, Iñigo Córdoba, Dogan Erdogan, Oguzhan Özyakup and striker Burak Yilmaz were not available. Thomas Buitink moved to the striker's position, while on the wings were places for Úmaro Embaló and Tijjani Noslin, who was the match winner against Utrecht last week.

The guests combined smoothly in the opening stages, but the Fortuna defense stood well and gave away few chances. The first really big chance of the match was for the home team. George Cox sent Embalo into space, who served Buitink from the left side. The striker got to the ball before his direct opponent and produced a first goal attempt at the first post. Twente goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall prevented his team from going behind with a fine reflex.

In the last five minutes of the first half, Twente made two dangerous appearances in front of the Fortuna goal. Robin Pröpper headed over from close range and a shot by Cerny went just wide. Arianit Ferati forced Unnerestall into another fine save before the halftime signal, the Fortuna midfielder testing the guests' goalkeeper with a hard shot from about 18 meters.

After halftime Fortuna put the guests under considerable pressure several times and often captured the ball in the opponent's half. Big chances came for Noslin and Deroy Duarte among others, the biggest of which came after an hour of play. Ten minutes later Twente took the lead, after a fine individual action Cerny passed Fortuna goalkeeper Ivor Pandur from a difficult angle: 0-1.

A few minutes later, the team from Enschede doubled its lead. A free kick in midfield was quickly taken by Michel Vlap, striker Ugalde stayed cool and scored in the long corner: 0-2. The goal was disputed by Fortuna; the ball did not appear to be stationary when it was taken by Vlap. However, the goal was honored anyway. Fortuna seemed stricken, after 77 minutes Twente threw the game definitively into the lock. After a nice attack, Cerny served Ugalde, who was once again successful from close range: 0-3.

Line-up: Pandur, Pinto, Guth, Siovas, Cox (82' Van Beijnen), Duarte, Ferati (61' Gladon), Bistrovic, Noslin (82’ Tasci), Buitink (82' Cangiano), Embaló (61’ Vita)
