Fortuna Vrouwen takes a point from Rotterdam
Fortuna Women gained one point from their visit to Excelsior on Saturday. Femke Prins scored the equalizer at the end of the match.
The team of head coach Glenda van Lieshout started the match well. Lakeesha Eijken claimed the leading role in it. The attacker was whistled back earlier and with fifteen minutes on the clock, Eijken was sent into the depths again. The Excelsior goalie was then passed, but the flag eventually went up for offside. Wrongly, as it turned out. Even after half an hour of play, the former ADO Den Haag player was sent off, the bet then flew just over the goal.
However, it was Excelsior that, against the odds, took the lead. The first real chance was created by Chelsea Homan, who was cleverly put away by Shijona Martina. Homas' bet lacked conviction, but goalkeeper Claire Dinkla still misjudged Rotterdam's bet: 1-0. Prins hoped to produce the equalizer before half time, her shot from distance flew a meter over the Excelsior goal.
Immediately after half time it was Prins again with the equalizer on her shoe. The attacker received the ball as a gift from Excelsior, but saw her effort turned away from close range by the defense. Ultimately, Fortuna had to wait until the final phase for the more than justified equalizer. A free kick from Isa Dekker was extended and lured in by Prins. In the absolute final phase there were still chances for Sara Vijfhuizen, Briony Stauffenberg and Sanne Arons. However, the ball no longer wanted to go in.
Fortuna Women: Dinkla; Pietersma (88' Hilhorst), Vijfhuizen, Stoop, Kopp, Eijken (82' Stauffenberg), van Wershoven (82' Van Berlo), van Heeswijk, Peereboom (64' Dekker), Arons en Prins.
