Fortuna wins again at home

At Fortuna, Rodrigo Guth returned to the starting line-up after having to miss the game against Vitesse due to a suspension. That was not the case for his partner at the back. The game against RKC Waalwijk came too soon for Dimitrios Siovas. As a result, Sadik Fofana remained in the starting lineup.

In the first half, chances were scarce. The teams were balanced, if any chances arose, they were for Fortuna. Captain Ivo Pinto, again playing very strongly, was at the base of the two biggest opportunities for the home club. After about fifteen minutes he put Noslin in position after a fine attack over many drives. His header went just wide. Ten minutes before half time the right back put the ball on the head of Guth, whose header went over. There were no chances for the guests in the first 45 minutes.

After halftime there were more spaces on the field and the game became livelier. Soon after the break Iñigo Córdoba, as tireless as ever on the left flank, served Kaj Sierhuis. However, the striker did not handle the ball well in a position of opportunity, losing the goal threat. A few minutes later, Córdoba unleashed a shot, which could be stopped by RKC goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen.

Less than 60 seconds later the first chance of the match for the guests, Michiel Kramer headed just wide after a corner kick in promising position. The guests tried to become dangerous via the counter, in the seventieth minute substitute Reuven Niemeijer fired a treacherous shot from about 14 meters. Goalkeeper Ivor Pandur moved quickly to the corner and prevented a counter goal.

The match seemed to be heading for a draw. However, three minutes before the end of official playing time, Fortuna took the lead anyway. A cross from the left by Córdoba was played wide to Noslin by Pinto, who came forward again like an accomplished striker. From close range he sent the Fortuna supporters into ecstasy: 1-0.

The guests did not want to give up and tried with all their might in the following minutes to force the equalizer. On the very last ball of the game Fortuna fans held their breath, Aaron Meijers was allowed to take a free kick from the edge of the penalty area. Via the head of substitute Loreintz Rosier the ball ended up next to the goal, after which referee Joey Kooij also immediately put an end to the match. After which the victory party could be celebrated between players and supporters.
