The 29-year-old Swede with the necessary Eredivisie experience has signed a commitment in Sittard for two-and-a-half years.

Peterson made the move from his homeland of Sweden to the Liverpool Academy at a young age. After several loan periods, the striker eventually ended up in the Netherlands, at FC Utrecht. After tenures at Heracles Almelo, Swansea City and Fortuna Düsseldorf, among others, Peterson signed a contract in Israel at Hapoel Beer Sheva last summer.

Because of the situation in Israel, Peterson can now transfer to Fortuna on a free transfer. "I am happy to return to the Dutch fields. I experienced very nice periods here and therefore I know very well what to expect from the Dutch league. I hope to get fit as soon as possible and be able to contribute to the successes of this team," said Peterson, who will start playing with number eight at Fortuna.

Technical manager Americo Branco is pleased with the arrival of the 29-year-old right footer. "He has gained considerable experience in the Eredivisie in previous years, so he knows the country and the league well. In addition, Kristoffer possesses all-around qualities that we believe we'll upgrade the selection."

Peterson began his soccer career in his own country in the youth of Sävedalens IF. The striker also went through several youth teams in Sweden and made his debut in the national team's main squad in a game against Slovakia in 2018.
