Ximo Navarro new defensive reinforcement
Ximo Navarro is Fortuna's newest acquisition. The 32-year-old right-back makes the transfer to Sittard free of charge, after he walked out of his contract with Deportivo Alavés last summer. The Spaniard has signed a contract until the end of the season, with an option for an additional year.
Sjoerd Ars, technical manager, on the Spanish acquisition: "After the departure of Mickaël Tirpan we were still looking for a defensive reinforcement, preferably one that can play in several positions. We found him in Ximo. In addition, with him we add an experienced force, who knows what is required in the style of play of our new coach."
Navarro is a youth product of RCD Mallorca and played successively for Recreativo Huelva, Córdoba, Almeria and Las Palmas. For the last four seasons, the right-back was under contract to Deportivo Alavés, the club where he briefly worked with head coach Julio Velázquez. In total, Navarro reached 177 matches at the highest level in Spain.
