2022 Azerion Vrouwen

Azerion is the new namesake of the Women's Eredivisie. The media and entertainment platform commits for three seasons to the highest women's soccer league in the Netherlands. In cooperation with Azerion, the KNVB wants to structurally increase attention for women's soccer, using Azerion's platform, which has a reach of hundreds of millions of users, as a powerful tool. The ultimate goal: full stadiums in the Azerion Women's Eredivisie.

Azerion takes over from former name partner Pure Energie. The ambition to reach full stadiums in the Azerion Women's Premier League will undoubtedly raise eyebrows. And that happens quite often within women's soccer. Thanks in part to the support of ING and former name partner Pure Energie, great strides have been made in recent years to further professionalize the league. It is now important that the focus on the highest stage of Dutch women's club soccer increases even more. The bar is high because the opportunities are there. Women's soccer attracts a different target group compared to men's soccer. It has proven itself as a family sport and is therefore excellently positioned to fulfill this ambition. Women's soccer should become the ideal weekly family outing in every region, where everyone is welcome and belongs.

The new naming partner Azerion is no stranger to this field. The media and entertainment platform knows what it is to reach and connect millions of people worldwide. "That is therefore an important part of the cooperation," said Kirsten van de Ven, manager of women's soccer at the KNVB. "In recent years, women's soccer has made great strides. Azerion's knowledge and experience can help us enormously to further increase the attention for women's soccer in the Netherlands."

With Fortuna and Telstar joining as newcomers, the Women's Eredivisie will grow to eleven clubs next season. ,,We believe in diversity and inclusion, participating and belonging. We want to invest in the future of women's soccer so that new generations have more role models," said Atilla Aytekin, CEO of Azerion. ,,We therefore cannot wait to work with the KNVB to make this great ambition a reality. On to full stadiums, we can change the game!"
