Isitan Gün steps down as chairman RvC

After nine years of intensive involvement, Isitan Gün is stepping down as chairman of Fortuna Sittard's Supervisory Board.
His departure marks the end of Gün's day-to-day work for the club. Isitan will make room for a new interpretation of the supervisory role but will remain involved in the background as a shareholder of the club.
Sporting success
The Turkish entrepreneur joined Fortuna Sittard in 2016 at a time when the club was in dire straits. At the time, the club was balancing sportingly and financially on the brink of collapse. Under Gün's leadership, a rigorous restructuring took place: a new foundation was laid on an administrative, organisational and sporting level. These efforts resulted quickly in promotion to the Eredivisie in 2018. A milestone that symbolises Fortuna's resurrection.
"It was an honour to be chairman of this beautiful club,’ Gün said. "My ambition was to bring Fortuna back to the level where it belongs, athletically and organisationally. We succeeded, thanks to the tremendous commitment of staff, players, staff, supporters, partners and volunteers. We have experienced wonderful moments together. The club is on the move again, and ready for the next phase."
Future-proof
Besides sporting success, Gün also managed to stabilise the club on an organisational level. He personally invested in Fortuna, established international partnerships and introduced a professional structure that made the club future-proof. By pursuing innovative policies, without losing the club culture, he made the region warm to Fortuna Sittard again. With a record number of visitors and season-ticket holders, the club is alive again as never before.
The club will on short term communicate about the new filling of the Supervisory Board chairmanship.

Personal message Isitan Gün:
Dear Fortuna family,
Today I am stepping down as the Chairman of our club after almost ten years. This journey, which started back in July 2016, marks an unforgettable period in my life filled mostly with joy, sometimes with challenges but almost always with excitement.
Looking back, I can comfortably say that I am happy to see the progress we have made to this day, basically taking the club from the brink of extinction and transforming it into a club that not only has become a stable Eredivisie participant but more importantly also an organization that is full of extremely capable, good-hearted and devoted people. I am proud to look back and see that there is not a single area, on or off the pitch, where Fortuna did not improve during this period.
I cannot find the words to express my deep gratitude and appreciation for the warm welcome and the continued support that I was on the receiving end from our supporters since day one. In return, I can also state that I have always given my best, putting Fortuna’s interests first, always being present, home and away, win or lose, to reciprocate.
I always believed that owners, directors, managers are no more than custodians of clubs, entrusted with a huge responsibility to safely carry the clubs into the future. I trust that I’ve done my part to carry out this mission. See you very soon in the stands and Same Nao Veure!
