Head coach Julio Velázquez leaves Fortuna

The paths of Fortuna and head coach Julio Velázquez are parting at the end of the season. By mutual agreement it was decided not to continue the cooperation.
The 41-year-old Spaniard was at the helm in Sittard from the seventh round of play. With Velázquez in charge, the club moved away from last place on the league table and eventually finished in a safe position. One of the most memorable games under the rector's leadership was the draw on a visit to national champions Feyenoord.
Sjoerd Ars, technical manager: "Julio and his team came in when the club was in a difficult phase. He put getting results first from that moment on. In doing so, he ultimately ensured that Fortuna will continue to play in the Eredivisie next season. We want to thank Julio and his team for their tireless efforts and wish them success in their further careers."
Also leaving in Velázquez's wake are assistant coach Jaime Mut, performance coach Javier Chocarro and data analyst Miguel Perez.
