Oranje Leeuwinnen go down in Sittard

Friday night the women's match between the Netherlands and Germany was scheduled. Playing venue was the Fortuna Sittard Stadion.
Fortuna's home ground colored completely orange for a moment. It was the first time that a senior team of the Dutch national team descended on Sittard. The match was also beautiful: the number eight of the FIFA ranking, the Netherlands, against the number two Germany.
De Oranje Leeuwinnen played in Sittard for the first time in the new jersey. Supported by the home crowd, the Netherlands went in search of a victory. However, this one did not come. Germany finally struck, Sydney Lohmann scored the only goal of the match. As a result, head coach Andries Jonker's team suffered an unfortunate defeat.
Sittard will always be special to Stefanie van der Gragt, despite the disappointing result. The Inter Milan defender played her 100th international game in Limburg.
