Belkheir suspension reduced by one game

Belkheir was given a red card by referee Martin van den Kerkhof during the last match, at home against FC Twente. The referee did this on the advice of the VAR, which determined that the Frenchman committed a too hard foul on goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall. The prosecutor proposed a three-match suspension, one of which was conditional.

Fortuna decided not to agree, so the case was submitted to the independent disciplinary committee on Thursday. They decided not to go along with the punishment of the prosecutor and to deduct one match from the penalty. As a result, Belkheir will miss the away match against PSV after the international break.
