Fortuna Women lost against FC Twente on Friday night in the last minute of the match. The Tukkers managed to turn a deficit around, after Tessa Wullaert had put the Sittard formation ahead: 2-1.

The first half started calmly and both teams were evenly matched. FC Twente tried several times to set up an attack, but the Fortuna Vrouwen defense stood strong and gave the home team little space to become dangerous. On the other side of the field there were some dangerous moments for Fortuna Vrouwen, but the Twente defense was alert. A passed ball from Hildur Antonsdottir came to the feet of Anna Knol, who managed to shoot it into the nets. However, the goal was cancelled for offside.

As the match progressed, the chances for both teams increased. The home team got some good chances through striker Fenna Kalma and others, but she lacked the precision to score. Fortuna Women also came close to a goal, but the attack was stopped by a strong goalkeeping Daphne van Domselaar. In the thirteenth minute, club leading scorer Wullaert managed to score the opening goal after all. Knol served her Belgian teammate with a watched ball behind the defense, Wullaert was able to control the ball to then pass the Twente goalkeeper.

In the second half, the game became more physical. Twente seemed to gain the upper hand and created several chances. Yet it was the team of head coach Roger Reijners who scored again, shortly after the tea break. Jarne Teulings, a former Twente player, shot a dropped ball between the posts. The goal was again disallowed due to alleged offside. It was finally Twente striker Kalma who put her team level eight minutes before the end of the match. Fortuna Women tried to get an extension despite the setback. This did not work out in the end. Bente Jansen put an end to Fortuna's beaver dream in the last minute.
